Doctor Who - 50th Anniversary Special

Many people have been slightly dismayed at the thought of no other past incarnations of the Doctor making an appearance in the special but we’re sure that they’ll turn up one way or another, just as some familiar locations might make an appearance as well…

And if you’re averse to potential spoilers… well, what are you doing on this article?! Go away! Go away now!

50th anniversary location spoiler

One such location that has been the source of much excitement is Coal Hill School and Totter’s Lane, where the Doctor Who crew have been filming scenes very recently.

For the uninitiated, this is where it all began on November 23rd 1963 for the very first Doctor Who adventure An Unearthly Child. The Doctor’s granddaughter attended Coal Hill School in Shoreditch and two of her teachers, Ian Chesterton and Barbara Wright, followed her home one day out of concern and intrigue. They arrived at a junkyard in Totter’s Lane where they encountered the Doctor and the TARDIS for the first time. And so did we.

The fact that filming is taking place around these sets suggest that the Doctor Who special is indeed heading right back to the beginning, but who really knows? This could be going anywhere. It could be a brief flashback, a flash-forward or maybe even a modern-day setting.

In fact, if you look at the pictures posted on Twitter, look at the sign for Coal Hill School check out who the Chairman of the Governors is…
